Celebrate Women's History Month with This Shark Lady Read Aloud and Mini Lesson

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we will be highlighting some of our favorite children’s book read alouds (and mini lessons). The stories are written by women, about women and they all have brave, intelligent women at the heart of the stories.

Shark Lady: The True Story of How Eugenie Clark Became the Ocean's Most Fearless Scientist by Jess Keating

A great story you will want to check out is Shark Lady: The True Story of How Eugenie Clark Became the Ocean’s Most Fearless Scientist by Jess Keating. This story tells about the life of Eugenie Clark and the obstacles she encounters as she dreams of becoming a scientist studying sharks when she grows up.

She overcame many obstacles to be one of the great scientific leaders in shark science. This book gives a wonderful account of her life and many interesting shark facts that she discovered. It was believed that sharks had to keep moving to stay alive until she made an amazing discovery of a dark cave with sleeping sharks!
